I think we all agree the Federal Minimum Wage of $7.25 is insufficient to sustain any reasonable standard of living. But what do we really know about real wages employers are already paying their employees?
We surely know the Minimum Wage discussion is a lightning-rod issue especially for politicians when they are campaigning for election. The left is constantly beating the drum for an increase to the Minimum Wage with all kinds of arbitrary levels- $10 per hour, $15 per hour, $20 per hour and even proposals for a graduating index over an equally arbitrary period of time, you can learn more about local salary payments check out this new blog post about this pay check stub template free. Did you ever wonder if real wage statistics are available?
Well, they are. The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes this information annually. The most recent data is from 2020. In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania there are 775 occupational categories with wage statistics available for each of them. Would you be surprised if the employers in Pennsylvania far exceed the Minimum Wage in virtually every category?
Well, they do. See for yourself in the table below. Which raises a question.
If employers in Pennsylvania are already taking care of their employees, do we really need our Local, State or Federal Governments to intervene?
